Carers Hub Drop In Support

Bradbury Centre Front Entrance

Caring can touch every part of your life – your time, your health, your finances, your work and your relationships. That’s why we offer one-to-one drop-in sessions at our hub in Leicester City Centre, where you can pop-in for a confidential, relaxed chat with our experienced carer support team.

You don’t need to be in crisis, and you don’t need to know exactly what help you’re looking for. We’ll meet you where you are.

What we can support you with

Caring can take many forms, from helping someone with daily tasks, supporting them emotionally, or managing their appointments and medications. Sometimes it’s hard to recognise that what you do counts as caring, especially if you’ve been doing it gradually over time.

At Leicester Carers Support Service, we can help you make sense of your role, so you know what it means to be a carer and what support might be available to you. We can also guide you through local and national resources designed to help carers, from practical tips to emotional support. Understanding your role is often the first step towards getting the help you need — and we’re here to walk that step with you.

Knowing what support is available — both for you and the person you care for — can make a real difference. We can help you prepare for a statutory carers assessment with your local council. These free assessments let the council decide what help you are eligible for, such as help with caring, respite care to give you a break, or equipment to make things easier.

Money worries are common for carers, especially when caring affects work or daily life. During our sessions, we can help you understand what financial support you might be entitled to, including Carer’s Allowance, Universal Credit, Council Tax Reduction and Carer’s Credit.

We can also explain the disability benefits that the person you care for may be able to claim and how these can make caring a little more manageable.

Caring often comes with many small, everyday challenges, and it can feel like there’s never a pause. At Leicester Carers Support Service, we can offer advice and guidance to help make day-to-day caring a little easier.

Whether it’s tips on managing household tasks, organising medications, or planning appointments, we can help you find practical solutions that fit your life. We can also talk through useful technology and equipment that can make caring less stressful, whether it’s reminders, monitoring tools, or mobility aids.

When caring for someone you often find yourself putting your own needs last but your wellbeing matters too. We can talk about how caring is affecting your health, both physically and emotionally, and explore ways you can look after yourself.

This might include finding time for yourself, understanding how to take a break from caring, or simply having space to say how things really feel.

Caring isn’t static. Needs can increase, situations can become more difficult, and life can change unexpectedly. We’re here to support you if caring becomes harder, or if you’re facing a major change.

If the person you care for passes away, we are here to offer compassionate support, guidance, and information, helping you through what can be an incredibly difficult and emotional time.

Where are these sessions held?

Our drop-in sessions take place at the Bradbury Centre, located in Leicester City Centre, from Monday to Wednesday, 9:30am to 3:30pm.

The Bradbury Centre is a fully accessible building at the front of Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland’s Clarence House Community Resource Centre, making it easy to find and welcoming for all carers.

On days when the Bradbury Centre is closed, you can still access support from the Carers Support Office which is located inside Clarence house. This is open from Monday to Friday, so you can still reach our team for the help you need.

If you need help finding us or want to check accessibility before you visit, please feel free to contact us, we’re happy to help.Â
