At Leicester Carers Support Service, we understand what it means to be a carer. Every day, across our city, people quietly dedicate their time, energy, and compassion to support someone who couldn’t manage without them – a parent, partner, friend, or neighbour. Whether you provide help for a few hours a week or full-time care, if the support you give is unpaid, you are a carer, and we are here for you.Â
We provide free, confidential support to all unpaid carers aged 18 and over who live in Leicester, or care for someone who does. Our aim is to make sure no carer feels isolated, unseen, or without help.Â
Based at The Bradbury Centre in the heart of Leicester, our Carers Hub is a welcoming space where you can drop in for support, information, or simply a friendly chat. We also offer one-to-one guidance, support groups, learning opportunities, and wellbeing activities designed to help you take a break, connect with others, and look after your own health and happiness. Â
We’re proud to support carers from every background and community in Leicester. Each caring role is different, and so is the support we offer. Whether you’re caring for an older relative, a partner with a long-term condition, a friend with mental health challenges, or an adult child with additional needs, we’ll work alongside you to find the information, encouragement, and practical help that’s right for you.Â
We care deeply about every carer’s story. We take the time to listen and understand, offering support that is personal, kind and without judgment.
We believe in helping carers build confidence, knowledge and resilience. Our aim is to give every carer the tools and information they need to make informed choices and feel in control of their situation.
Caring can be isolating, but no one should face it alone. We bring carers together to share experiences, build friendships and find strength in connection. Leicester’s diversity is our strength, and we are proud to serve carers from all walks of life.
I’ve worked across health and social care in the City and County for over 25 years, managing teams delivering hands-on support in people’s homes.Â
I now manage the Leicester Carers Support Service team, supporting unpaid carers across the city.Â
Outside of work, I enjoy theatre, sport, travelling and spending time with my family in Scotland.Â
I joined the Leicester Carer Support Service three months ago, supporting carers to apply for grants. It’s a privilege to support carers and help them feel valued for the vital role they play.Â
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my growing family, baking celebration cakes, gardening and getting outdoors for walks.Â
I’ve worked with carers for over 16 years and have been part of this team for more than six of those. I’m passionate about guiding carers through their personal journeys.Â
Outside of work, I love walking, gardening, swimming and horse riding.Â
I’ve worked here since 2013 and enjoy supporting clients to make the most of their benefits and find solutions to practical, everyday problems.Â
Outside of work, I enjoy music, film and literature. Gardening is my therapy, and I love spending time in nature.Â
I have worked for Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland for over 20 years and I’m proud to be part of the LCSS Team.Â
Outside of work, I am a busy mum, grandmother and, more recently, a great-grandmother. I also have a large overly enthusiastic Labrador/Doberman Pinscher cross, who has perfected the art of photobombing.Â
I’ve worked with carers for over 15 years, following a long career in the NHS as a mental health nurse and clinical nurse specialist.Â
I bring specialist knowledge in mental health, dual diagnosis and neurodiversity, and enjoy supporting carers through their caring journeys.Â
Outside of work, I enjoy travelling, cooking and eating out, watching sport, and spending time with my two daughters and four grandchildren.Â
I’ve spent the past 12 years supporting carers, including seven years with Age UK, taking a compassionate, non-judgemental approach rooted in listening and trust.Â
Alongside this, I’ve supported people with acquired brain injuries for almost 20 years, helping individuals make positive changes in their lives.Â
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my family, gardening, reading and going on holiday.Â
I have volunteered with the Leicester Carers Support Service for over the past 4 years.Â
My main role is to supply our clients with a Carers Pack, Passport and Information to help them provide support for the person they are caring for. I also use my design skills to create posters, leaflets and newsletters for our upcoming events.Â
My main hobbies are playing retro video games, listening to music, drawing environments and watching movies and animation.Â
