At Leicester Carers Support Service, we speak to carers every day. We hear how much you give, often without recognition, and how the right support at the right time can make all the difference.
We also hear where things could be better.
That is why we are encouraging you to take a few minutes to share your experience and have your say in this important survey from Leicester City Council.
They are developing a new Carers Strategy for 2026 to 2030. This will help shape what support looks like for carers across Leicester over the next few years.
What is an unpaid carer?
An unpaid carer is someone who regularly supports a family member, friend or neighbour who could not manage without them. This might be because of illness, disability, mental health needs or addiction.
Many people do not think of themselves as a carer. They see it as just being there for someone they love. If that sounds like you, your voice still matters.
Why this matters
Caring can affect so many parts of your life. It can impact your health, your time, your work, your finances and your wellbeing.
The Carers Strategy helps shape things like access to support, the information you receive, opportunities for breaks, and how easy it is to find help when you need it. It also plays a part in making sure carers feel recognised and valued.
Put simply, it helps decide how well carers are supported across Leicester.
Why we are asking you to take part
As a service run by Age UK Leicester Shire and Rutland, we are here to support you. But the most important voices are yours.
By sharing your experience, you can help show what is working well and where things need to improve. You can help make sure future services reflect real life caring, not just assumptions.
Even taking a few minutes to complete the survey can help shape support for thousands of carers across the city.
Take the survey
The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete.
What happens next
Once the survey closes, the feedback will be reviewed and used to help shape the new strategy. A summary will be shared, and if you leave your email address, you will also receive an update on how your views have been used.
